Cristen Lumbreras '15 Recruiting Profile

My name is Cristen Lumbreras, and I live in Brownsville Texas. I’ve been playing soccer since I was 5 years old, as soon as I got my foot on that soccer ball it was like love at first touch. Having as much passion as I did for this sport I knew I wanted to play collegiate, this was a goal I had made since I was very young and I’ve always been very determined to fulfill this goal of mine. I am now a well-developed soccer player who is very interested in learning and absorbing as much skill as possible with a height of 5’2 and weighing 125 pounds, I know I am more than capable of any challenge I am given.

Since I’ve been playing at such a young age I’ve been able to develop many skills. My ball handling has always been a great factor of me being a soccer player, being able to place the ball to another teammates feet also has been a strong skill of mine. Shots on goal is what I’m also extremely familiar with, since I am a central midfielder I do take outside shots which require a stronger and well-aimed shot which I am very precise at. I’ve been the captain of my team since my junior year, being a team leader came very natural to me, encouragement and confidence was key to carrying my team farther and to work harder, since I’ve been a starter on varsity all four years I have experienced playoffs, tournaments and showcases.

Academics also is a key factor to getting to where I need to be. I’ve always taken my grades very seriously leaving no room for slack. I am 100% dependable when it comes to getting the grade, I am a well determined student who stays focused and pushes myself to achieve greater. I am looking to pursue my career in physical therapy, I believe that helping others who are going through a rough injury shouldn’t give up on getting better and coming back stronger than what they were before.
