The moment I stepped on a soccer field for the first time I knew it was something I wanted to do. Some kids play a few years and even play other sports and eventually decide soccer is for them. For me I just knew. I loved everything about it. I started on a team that was very bad. We literally lost every game the first two seasons. After the last losing season I decided that I would do everything as a player to do my part to help my team win. When it was all said and done my last year in recreation soccer we went undefeated. I feel like that was the best thing that ever could have happened to me. I didn't have it easy like so many players. I had to claw my way to the top and helped my team get there as well by encouraging them and helping them. In the end it molded me to be a captain and a player that leads by example. It helped me deal with losing and made me passionate about winning. Now that I am older I really do try and be the player that works longer and harder than anyone else. I was taught at a young age that anything worth having had to be earned. Growing up in West Texas and having to drive 5 hours just to play one Lake Highlands D1 league game and turning around and driving back also taught me not to take anything for granted. I have learned that all I can do is make the most of every opportunity that is given to me. I never dreamed that I would be on the ODP State Team and would have the opportunity to play international soccer and at a National Level. Each time a door like that opens it just spurs me on to work harder than before. It keeps making me realize that through hard work and dedication that dreams really do come true. I know that whichever program decides to choose me that there will not be one player on that team that will work harder or be more grateful than I will. Thank you for your time and God Bless!
