~~Hi, my name is Lana Michelle Truese. I was born in Heidelberg, Germany and moved to Virginia when I was three years old. I began playing soccer when I was seven years old, and I loved it from the beginning. I started off as a goalkeeper, then moved to defense. When I was nine years old I began playing as a midfielder and sometimes a forward. I noticed that I had a passion for scoring and the skills to do so. I adored being a forward and have played that position since then. Although, when I am needed in another position, I can excel just as well.
I started off playing in the House Leagues. I went to an ODSL team, Reston Cyclones, when I was thirteen years old and stayed for two seasons. I quickly moved to the WAGS Chantilly Adrenaline when I was fourteen. They had been division 5 when I joined, but we moved to division 4 after my first season with them. We are currently in division 2 and look forward to advancing. My freshman year of Herndon High School, I made the Varsity Soccer team. Although I did not start as many games that I would have liked, I did get an estimated twenty minutes per game. My sophomore year, I made Varsity again, however I was able to play longer. This year, I have a starting position on the Varsity team.
My other activities, such as the NJROTC program, has taught me many things about leadership. As a freshman, my Commander informed me that I was a natural leader by the way I presented myself and my actions. For instance, the way I led my class in physical training and instruction in the classroom. My sophomore year, I decided to become Executive Officer of the Physical Training team. I encouraged, inspired and helped the members of my team reach goals and improve themselves. Currently, I am the Commanding Officer of the Physical Training team. I am also the Executive Officer of the Unit, I am in charge of all the of cadets and the events that take place. I help the Commanding officer of the unit with whatever they need. I keep track of Senior Staff members, who are fellow officers, and make sure they stay on task while they complete their work to the best of their ability.
My grades are kept at an A/B honor roll level. My classes are challenging but nothing I could not be able to handle. I am learning time-management and priority setting with my experiences. I am a fun, dedicated, smart and interesting people person. I look forward to meeting new people, exploring college grounds and playing soccer!
