Personal Statement

I am Natalie Cargill and my passion is for the beautiful game of soccer. I've been playing soccer since I was three years old and I can not imagine my life without it. I'm a universal  and coachable player. I thrive best as a forward. Soccer has taught me how to respond to situations while under pressure, stress, and how to resolve conflicts. Soccer has also taught me the basic skills such as discipline, leadership, determination, dedication, self-confidence , and it also strengthens me physically and mentally both on and off the field. Coming from a military family I've gotten the opportunity to play in different countries around the world and experience different style of playing  and coaching. With all my hard work and dedication  and the support from my parents I am the first female in my family to play a sport and be recognize by my community, peers, and teachers, which is one of my biggest accomplishments. Currently I hold the title for the highest goals scored over both male and female soccer team at Seoul American High School in one season and for the 2016 Far East Soccer Tournament. I ended my season with 35 goals and 10 assists. I was awarded Golden Boot and MVP for Seoul American High School. I also was awarded for outstanding achievement, sportsmanship, and leadership during the Far East Tournament by Commander Brian S. Choate, Lt Col, USAF.

My passion and love for soccer has taught me how to view and understand the game as a player and as a coach. I've been an assistant coach for the U-10 Community Youth Sport ( CYS) Recreational team for the past two years. My goal is not only to succeed academically in college, but also to make it professional to the Women's National Team, as well as expanding opportunities for girls around the world to get a chance to play soccer and be recognize as equal to their male counterparts.

One may ask what makes me a good candidate for a team?  First, I have played on both an all male team as well as on a all female team and that has made me into a more versatile player.  Second, I have a greater understanding from a coaches prospective on how much work it takes  to develop and prepare a player  physically and mentally.  Lastly, with my military background and my ability to learn and adopt quickly to different cultures, coaches and schools I believe it makes me different from other candidates. I look forward to joining a team and contribute  to its success.

I know that becoming a Physical Therapist and playing soccer may seem hard to some but I have full faith that with hard work and perseverance I will be able to achieve my goal.
