Hi coaches,
My name is Eleanor Wray. I have been playing soccer since I could stand on my own two feet. I have played at all levels, including rec, challenge, travel, an adult league and I started to play Varsity soccer last year when I was a freshman. When I was on challenge, two years in a row I was selected to be on an All-Stars team. This was a calling for me to play at a higher level and I haven't slowed down since. I am very serious about soccer, but also like to have fun with it. Having a team that gets along well with each other is key to success, and I try to create the most positive environment possible for everyone. As a player, I have played all positions on the field, but my main position is currently outside midfielder and sometimes attacking midfielder. I have played in many different formations, and adjust quickly. I am very good at finding the open space whether I am dribbling or passing to create a run. I'm not nasty on field, but I am not afraid to be physical if necessary. My ball control is very good, my foot skills are improving all the time, as well as endurance which is very important for a midfielder to have. I am also quick. Last year, when I was on Varsity as a freshman, the older girls on the team didn't fully trust me at first. As the season went on, they realized that I was just another one of them and we were all working together to achieve the same goal and help each other find strengths that we have as a whole. I am looking forward to my upcoming seasons of Varsity soccer and developing my physical skill set as well as my teamwork skill set greatly.
Academically, I have always excelled. My grades have always been good, and I plan on keeping it that way. My classes are challenging, and they are not going to get any easier. I am currently in all honors classes and have one AP class. Starting next year, I will most likely be taking 2 AP core classes, German 3, and also Latin. This sounds very scary to me, but I am up for the challenge. At my high school, I am enrolled in HMSA (Health and Medical Sciences Academy). This is for students interested in the medical field. Medicine is definitely my main interest and what I would like to pursue., HMSA is giving me a great opportunity to do this. Next year for the Academy, we will have internships to gain experience and try to make our path more clear. I am very excited about this. My hobbies include riding horses, hiking, water skiing and going to the beach.
I always set the bar high for myself. I am very determined and willing to do whatever it takes to play soccer in college. I am absolutely in love with the game and I don't plan on ending my journey in three short years of high school. Thank you for taking time to look at my profile! I look forward to speaking with you.
