Personal Statement

     I am an ideal candidate for your team in center midfield or outside midfield/defender because I have an excellent first touch, proficient footwork, strong defensive skills, great field vision, stamina, precise passing ability, speed, and a commitment to improve my game every day.  My club's Academy Director twice chose me for the club's weekly "Best 11" from among all of the club's boys and girls travel teams in the 2016 fall NPL season - one of only two girls on my team to be selected more than once!  My college goals are to play women’s varsity soccer, compete for conference and NCAA championships, and (most importantly) earn an undergraduate degree in Business, Kinesiology/Exercise Science, Athletic Training or Biology, and work in sports medicine and fitness.

     Unlike many of my peers, I am not a soccer-only athlete; I earned a varsity letter as starting point guard on my high school's girls basketball team as a freshman.  During the club soccer off-season I work out with a private trainer on strength, core, stamina and speed; I excel in daily weightlifting class in high school, and work out with other soccer teams at my club to stay sharp.  I have played many sports: soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, and flag football. These sports have helped me improve my conditioning, coordination, speed, balance, and confidence.  

     We are an Air Force family. We've lived all over the U.S. and in Asia and Europe.  My family and I returned to the States in 2015 after two years in England.  In England, I was on the U14 and U15 Brandon Lasses club football (soccer) team.  For my performance in the 2014-15 season I earned my English club's Player of the Year honors for the second year in a row.  I played center midfielder in 2014-15, mostly in a box-to-box role.  We won the Suffolk U15 Girls League Cup (repeat champions), and were finalists in the Suffolk FA U15 Girls Cup.  Besides club soccer, I was a pool player and starter on the USYS Region I state-level (Europe) Olympic Development Program (ODP) U15 girls squad for 2014-15.  I also trained at the England FA Elite Player Development Centre in Norwich City for two years.  I was the starting center midfielder for the Lakenheath American HS girls varsity soccer team in my Freshman year, and look forward to earning a starting position in Battlefield High School's 2018 varsity team (current 4-time VA state champions).  We recently moved to Florida, and I'll begin my senior year in my third high school.

     I am also proud of my academic achievements and won’t have any problems maintaining academic eligibility in college.  I want to be an Academic All-American.  I earned High Honors in the first semester of my Freshman year, and Academic Honor Roll in both semesters of my Sophomore year, and the first semester of my Junior year.  Our frequent moves have taught me to be comfortable in adapting to new situations, getting out of my comfort zone, and to find the positives in every place we live.  A lifetime of change has made me very level-headed and mature.  When my college and professional playing careers are over, I’ll coach soccer and pursue my doctorate in a health sciences profession.  I want to be an inspiration to other girls to achieve their dreams, on and off the field.

  • Two consecutive years in under 12 girls-only program; full day program is from 9am-4pm daily, Monday-Thursday, and on Friday from 9am-Noon. The USF Women's Soccer Team program is designed to improve a player’s technical proficiency in all aspects of the game (dribbling, passing, receiving, chipping, and shooting). A specific concentration is also placed on each player’s ability to be comfortable and creative on the ball. In each session each player is challenged to try new things with the ball, which will increase their confidence. In addition to the technical component, the Full Day Training Camp improves a player’s tactical understanding in an individual and group setting. Throughout the entire camp, a strong emphasis is placed on developing each player’s confidence, creativity, and individuality on the field. At the end of the week each player leaves a more technical player who has greater confidence and creativity. Camp staff are Women's Soccer Head Coach Denise Brown, her coaching staff, and many of her junior and senior players.

  • Two consecutive years in girls-only program (Jan - Apr 12; Jan - Apr 13). The USF Women's Soccer Team Bulls Future 50 Program is geared toward leadership development and technical skill advancement as well as emphasizing quickness, movement with the ball and improving a young soccer player's physical abilities. The program focuses on 8 valued leadership skills which will be demonstrated, taught and enjoyed. Players can expect to grow in the areas of communication, maturity, community outreach, team bonding strategies, soccer knowledge, standout behavior, integrity growth and goal setting. The leadership development portion will be the first 30 minutes, then out to the field for 90 minutes of technical development. On the field, players will get the benefit of the program's original concept/focus, which is to improve technical ability. The specific technical areas the program will train each player in are: Moves to beat players 1v1; Moves to escape pressure; Turning with the ball; Changing speeds with the ball; Shielding the ball; Footwork and Finishing.   • US College Soccer ID Camp's Southeast Elite ID camp at USF in July provides an opportunity for the serious soccer player with a desire of playing collegiate soccer. The coaching staff has been carefully picked so that every level and type of player has the ability to be identified. Coaches have been chosen who coach at top Division I programs pursuing National Championships, top and middle level Division II programs, Division III programs, and even NAIA programs and Junior College Programs that seek National Championships. The coaches on staff are passionate about developing players through specific technical training, small sided matches, and 11 v 11 games. Each player will be issued an Identification Number that they will wear at each session, so when that magical moment happens, every coach will be able to identify who that player is, who they want to play for their school. US College Soccer ID Camps is for players entering 8th - 12th grade (ages 13-18) and graduating seniors still looking for a home.

  • Emily impressed throughout camp, and was rewarded as starting right fullback for U15 girls against local German U15G club team in her first appearance in the European State/Region 1 player pool. USA 5 - TFZ Wesel 3. Emily played all but 5 minutes. She had to be quickly returned to play after a brief rest in the 2H when the Germans scored twice from her side of the field after Emily had shutdown all attacks from her wing previously.
