Hi Coaches, my name is Chantal Riggs and I am a senior at Olympia High School in Olympia, WA. I am a female goalkeeper and have just moved back to the area after living in Sidney, NE for 3 years. During my time in NE, I did not have a high school or high level club team, so for the past two years I played coed rec, indoor, and 3v3 soccer. In fall 2016 I was invited to practice with the Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, CO. This had me practicing with the NJC college team two days a week and running with my high school's cross country team the rest of the week. I have competed with the cross country for the past two years, but I was unable to in 2016 because my previous school did not want me to double up on sports. Instead, I ran with them on my days off and do not compete. My collegiate goals are to be recruited as a female goalkeeper at a scholarly university and to work towards a medical profession. During freshman and sophomore year, as a way to stay conditioned during the off season, I ran cross country and track. In 2014 and 2015 I qualified for and ran at the Nebraska State Cross Country meet. Freshman year I ran a 21:17 and placed 16th, sophomore year I ran a 21:18 and placed 18th. In spring of 2015, I also competed in the Nebraska State Track meet with the female 4x800. As for academics, I feel I am a very strong candidate for your squad. I am an active member of National Honor Society as well as a top student in my school's honor roll. I maintain a 4.0 GPA and finished junior year 5th in my class. Now, in Olympia, I am the starting varsity goalkeeper on the Olympia High School girls soccer team. Outside of school and sports, I am active in Young Life, Science Club, Mock Trial and 4H. I appreciate you as a coach for taking the time to read this statement and thank you for considering me for a spot on your team.
