Personal Statement

My goals as an athlete are pretty simple. I want to continue to improve as much as possible. I love soccer and all its tactical pieces along with the aspect of being on a team. Playing college soccer would not only mean I would have the opportunity to improve and compete at a higher level, it also means I would be able to learn from an amazingly qualified coach everyday with the hope to one day coach at high levels myself. Winning of course is important, but what I really would love to experience is all the learning and growing along the way. I have always seen sports as a way to learn discipline, hard work, and many other life skills. Playing college soccer has always been a dream of mine, and I'm willing to train day and night to make that dream a reality. I am self motivated and not only do I push myself on the field and in the weight room, I also know the importance of diligence in the classroom. My grades are important to me and each quarter, just as I do in athletics, I set goals for myself to complete, such as: Don't turn in an assignment late this quarter or No lower than a 90% on every math test, ect. One of the things I believe sets me apart from other athletes is my tactical mindset when playing and my willingness to lead my team. My coaches often describe me as a very coachable player who understands the game and my leadership ability was recognized by my teammates when as a freshman in highschool, after two weeks of practice, I was voted captain of my mostly Junior and Senior JV team at Ferris High School. Also my sophmore year, I filled one of the two available spots on Varisty, and throughout the season was told by all four of our Senior captains, three of which are now moving on to play collegiate soccer, that I was their rock the whole season.  Playing soccer at the college level is an important life goal for me.

  • My high school team needed to win this game to move on to state. We had played this team 2 weeks earlier in regional play and lost 2-1. They had an all league, forward who plays on a national team. She was the reason that they won the previous game and no body on my team could shut her down. When I found out we were playing them again I made it my personal goal to stop her and I assured my teammates they had nothing to worry about because I would take care of her. In the first game she had 21 shots on goal in the second where I was marking her she shot 6tines. We won the game and moved on to state, I was named MVP for the game
