Ashleigh's GoalPersonal Statement
Academic success is my number one priority, but the ability to keep playing soccer is a close second! When I was younger, I was really shy. I started playing soccer when I was 5 years old and learned almost immediately that I had a real talent for it. As my technique developed so did my confidence. I learned a lot about myself through soccer as leadership skills emerged that I never knew I had. I am now Captain of both my high school and club teams. Being a great teammate is about so much more than just being a talented player. It's about being dedicated, leading by example, encouraging your teammates and being attentive to your coach.
In addition to my leadership qualities, I believe I'll bring great foot skills, field awareness and an intuitive sense of the game to my team. I hope to keep learning and improving my game. I don't ever want to assume that "I'm good enough the way I am." I'd much rather be a player that continually strives to be even better.
