Personal Statement
Playing soccer at the collegiate level has been my dream from the time that I started playing. This goal has pushed me to continue working to improve myself in school, on the field, and as an overall person each and every day over the course of several years. I am also a firm believer in the quote "Team before self and everyone else."
Soccer has always been extremely important to me, as it plays a major role in my life; however, it wasn't until this past year that I truly understood how much I love the sport, inside and out, when in the first game of my Spring travel season (sophomore year) I tore my ACL. During the 8 months that I was "sidelined" I couldn't keep myself away from a single practice or game that any of my teams had. It was miserable to have to watch rather than play, but I supported my teams as much as I possibly could from the sidelines. Throughout my post-op recovery, I pushed myself as hard as my physical therapists would let me every day, as I wanted nothing more than to be back on the field and refused to lose sight of my goal. Now that I am back on the field, it is apparent to me, and all of my coaches/teammates, that this injury was only a setback that fueled me to come back as an even stronger player and that I will not let anything stand in the way of my goal.
