As soon as I competed in my very first race, I became passionate about swimming and competition. Having come to swimming relatively late, I had to work hard to progress and I believe that I have made great strides in improving my performance though dedication to practice, attending to the details of my coach, and applying myself. Through swimming I have learned much about what I can accomplish, the sacrifices necessary to achieve them, and the discipline that it requires. I have use these lessons to improve my academic performance, and I now find myself being a role model for other teammates and school colleagues. I have been fortunate enough to swim with an accomplished swim club, but I also participate in a high school swim program which is still developing. That has allow me to support and provide guidance to teammates who were not as fortunate as I to have had the coaching and training in a competitive setting.
I believe that I am a good asset to any team, I not only stay to cheer on other swim team members and provide encouragement to class project team members in school, but I also often find myself having better splits in my relays that I do in my individual event because of my commitment to my team.
I am focused on accomplishing my goals both athletically and academically, to do so I hope to find a college that will allow me to achieve my potential and develop my character, but also a place where I can make a contribution to their program.
