Personal Statement
I began swimming on a recreational team when I was nine years old and totally fell in love with the sport. Since freshman year I’ve been on the varsity team at my high school. As a freshman, I received the “Most Determined” award because of my perseverance and drive to push through my knee injury that year. I believe my desire to push through the pain continued in me when I joined a club team sophomore year, Elk Grove Aquatic Club, formally Cosumnes River Aquatics. Being on a USA team really showed me what it means to work hard and go past what you thought you were capable of.
On top of swim practice, I’m in the National Honor Society and Link Crew, a program that welcomes the freshman class into the school. I’m very involved in my church’s youth group, and we take mission trips down to Mexico every spring. I maintain a 4.37 GPA with honors and AP classes. I try my best to reach my academic goals, and hopefully it can assist me in one of my biggest athletic dreams; swimming collegiately. I’m open to swimming at any division and open to going out of state. I would prefer a school with 20,000 students or less, and I’m interested in majoring in kinesiology. I think I would be a great addition to your team because I work hard and love being with teammates.
