    One of the things I do well is leading by example. The effort and dedication I put into swimming is easily observed by others inspiring them to do the same. I also use my hardworking qualities to motivate others. For instance, my coach used to tell me to run over the boys in front of me to give them motivation to work hard.

    Every day I find the motivation to go to practice no matter how tired I am or how early or late it is. My friends always look at me in astonishment and wonder how I manage to do it. Well, it is quite simple - I am driven internally by a desire to do the best I can in whatever I put my mind to. I want to do the best I can in swimming to help my team succeed. I apply this drive to my academics as well to learn as much as I can. For example, when I was assigned one chapter of reading during the summer, I read and took notes on nine chapters instead because I wanted to get ahead to better manage my time during the semester.

    I am looking for a college with a strong science or chemical engineering program and a competitive swim team. In addition, I am looking for a team with teammates who will challenge me that I can also challenge right back. My goals for college swimming are to become a faster swimmer as well as a better person.
