Personal Statement
All of my life I have been dedicated to school and the future that it will help provide. School was the most important thing and really the only thing I had. I did participate in other fulfilling activities outside of school: 4-H and Odyssey of the Mind, both of which taught me independent thinking and creativity. Skills which are important for my future success in society. However, I still felt like I was missing something. About four years ago my parents gently pushed me to join the CARA recreational swim team. Once I hit the water for the first time at a meet, I knew this was it. I had played soccer some and volleyball, and other sports seemed intriguing but I hadn't found my niche. Swimming is my niche. After about a year of swimming for the recreational team, we decided it was time to move me to a more competitive atmosphere which would help me improve and hopefully master my skills. I found that in the Longmont Redtails. I have been swimming competitively with this team for the past three years. As the time has gone by my times have steadily dropped and my mastery of the subtle nuances that is swimming has steadily increased. As I approach my second year of high school swimming I am extremely excited about the opportunities this season will bring for both me and my team. I am also excited about the potential opportunity that swimming will bring me further down the road in college. I hope to pursue a future in swimming at college and I hope that the lessons that I have learned in the pool will help translate in my future career.
