Personal Statement
My Name is Hannah O’Toole. I’m a student athlete at Satellite High School in Satellite Beach, Florida. My graduation year is 2016.
Going to college has always been a given for me, but swimming at the collegiate level has always been a personal goal. I love being at the pool with friends that have similar morals and similar personal goals, and it has also helped me make the right decisions through out high school.
That makes the practices and meets that much more competitive and fun. I am swimming for Treasure Coast Swim Club at their Cocoa Beach location. We swim 6 days a week with yardage usually between 6,000-8,000 yards per practice session. I love going to practice and pushing myself. I love being able to test my limits and be there for whatever my head coach, Scott Barlow, will throw at us for a main set.
This was my first year at my current school, Satellite High School. The team atmosphere really made me even more excited about college swimming. It was a great fit for me being on such a supportive and outgoing team. I always try to be a positive force for the team. I enjoy success not only for myself but to also help others succeed. Whether it is kind words during a hard set or a heart to heart off the pool deck, I am a team player.
I am very outgoing and friendly to everyone. My personality is very open and bubbly. I don’t enjoy being involved in drama so I try to steer clear of negative attitudes or saying anything negative about anyone. I’m also very polite to whoever I’m talking to.
Time Management is something I’ve learned throughout my competitive swimming career. I had a rocky start but I have a handle now on my priorities now; Family, School, swimming, and social. In that order, it takes a lot of self discipline but with the help and support of everyone in my life it has been very possible.
