Personal Statement
I learned to swim at the age of two and always felt at home in the water. I have been swimming competitively since I was 6 years old. I have worked extremely hard to swim at the collegiate level. With a solid work ethic and competitive spirit, I have established myself as a solid breaststroker with very good underwaters. My current goal is to have Junior National times by the end of the 2013-2014 season or very close to those times. I am currently competing at both the high school level and club team level simultaneously and enjoy what both atmospheres have to offer. My high school team won the 6A GHSSA Swim and Dive Championship and we hope to repeat that again this year.
Out of the pool, I have concentrated on my studies. Swimming has taught me the invaluable lesson of time management. I have been afforded the opportunity to take many AP classes, which has helped push my GPA to a 4.15 after my sophomore year, finishing 19th out of 589 students. I have also been actively involved in the school: Student Council secretary (2 years), Governor's Honors Program (State Finalist), Fellow of Christian Athletes leader, National Honor Society member, National Spanish Honor Society member and Beta Club member.
I want to attend a college where I can push myself in the classroom and in the swimming pool. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great role model to all peers and make my parents proud.
