Personal Statement
I am a senior at Punahou School in Honolulu, Hawaii. I want to go to a school that is equally excellent in academics and athletics. I aspire to attend a division one college, but I'd be happy to go to a division two or even a level three school because I love my sport. I have always wanted to continue to be a student athlete. I do not have a preference in attending a large or small university because I work well in both environments. I am the kind of athlete and student who always wants to work at getting better and learn new things. I am very open to feed back as I frequently ask my coaches questions on ways to improve in technique and advice on what I need to work on. I know I am not a perfect swimmer, but I am working towards meeting my potential by putting in hard work in and out of the pool, both as a swimmer and a student. I am often told by teachers and coaches I that I am a leader and people look to me because I seem to know what I am doing. I have been voted president of the Punahou class of 2017 for freshman and sophomore year. In the pool, I am that kid who encourgages my teammates to keep going or push harder. I view my role on the team as the person to set the example, if I work hard, the other swimmers won't have an excuse to slack off. Not only do I lead by example, I verbally challenge them too; usually I say, "You're going to let ME beat you?" and challenge them to race me in the last 100 of the set. I enjoy being a leader at school and on deck.
