Personal Statement
I consider myself a versatile short and mid-distance swimmer. My coach is able to use my versatility in competitive meets. Through my years of competitive swimming my times have continued to improve. I love that swimming is an individual sport as well as a team sport. Through dedication, hard work and a positive mindset one can accomplish so much as a swimmer. Competitive swimming has also helped me to make smart decisions and has improved my confidence. These qualities do not only contribute to swimming but also to one’s academic goals.
My academic career is most important to me when considering a college. My goals for my High School Senior year academically are to achieve the highest GPA possible. As well as taking some AP classes to prepare me for my career I will be pursuing in college. My goals athletically are to qualify for the High School State Meet in the individual events for the 50 Free, 100 Free and the 100 Back. My Junior year I missed qualifying for the 50 Free by .09 and the 100 Free by .01. I also would like to get a Futures time cut with my Club team.
During the off season I swim Club six days a week. I also work with a personal trainer two or three days a week all year long. The trainer helps me become a stronger and more competitive swimmer in the pool.
When I am not busy with school or swimming, I am a life guard for my school district all year around. I am planning to give private swimming lessons this summer. I am looking forward to sharing my passion for swimming with young kids and helping them develop the basic and life saving skills of swimming.
I would like to swim at the collegiate level where I can bring my positive attitude and contribute to the team’s success in the pool as well as in the classroom.
