Personal Statement
Swimming and Academics! What does it mean to me? Well they are the two most important things in my life besides my family. My swimming career began at the age of 8 swimming for a summer club. I soon joined a winter YMCA team. My height is 5'7" and my current weight is 145 lbs. I am going to be a senior at Alton High School in Alton, Illinois. Currently, I swim on the Alton High School Varsity Swim Team, the Edwardsville YMCA Swim Team, and the Summers-Port Swim Club. My accomplishments include "The Telegraph All-Area Swimmer of the Year" for 3 years of high school and named to the 2010 USA Swimming Scholastic All America Team. I am a three time YMCA National Qualifier and have participated in the IHSA State Finals for three years. In 2010, I qualified for finals in the 100 freestyle and placed 9th in the State of Illinois. At the YMCA National meet, I placed 17th in the 100 free and 21st in the 200 free. Also, I was on the 8th place finishing 200 freestyle relay team at Nationals. My current GPA is 4.622 and I am ranked 3rd in my class of 409 students. I am looking for a strong academic school as well as a school where I can be challenged in the pool. I currently live in the Midwest and would like to attend college in an area of warmer climate.
