Dear those who are taking a peek at my profile,
My name is Mackenzie Artim, and I LOVE swimming. Swimming has become one of my basics for life, like eating breathing, and sleeping; and it has been a dream of mine to swim in college and go all over the place to swim meets. It might sound unreasonable, but my studies come first and if i don't get any money from swimming to help me along the way for college then I will have to close up shop for my swimming lifestyle and get my head in the game for college academics. When I'm not swimming or at school(which is like never), I do many interesting activities. Here, let me give you a run down. During the school week, I have practice in the morning, school, practice after school(3-5), coaching at the high school pool for age group(5-7), and then go home, eat, sleep, and repeat. I also am a certified scuba diver, CPR certified, and an awesome babysitter/dog sitter. In my small bit of spare time I take part in clubs such as Student Council, Athletic Council, Key Club, CASS(Creating A Safer School) and Best Buddies.
As an individual, I think I'm pretty well rounded. I also have high goals in mind, and I won't settle for anything less. I guess you can say that, that is my biggest flaw: I'm extremely hard on myself, but I promise that if you are interested in me, I will not give up on myself, you, or your team. I'm a team player, but i also know when to grit my teeth and give it my all in a race even if I'm racing a teammate. I also love being apart of a team because to me they become my second family as I'm with them so much i guess they have to be.
Like I said, I commit my time to many different things and most are self explanatory except for two clubs: CASS and Best Buddies. CASS is an acronym for Creating A Safer School. In this extracurricular activity, once a month, myself and a group of high schoolers also in CASS split up into two groups, one group for each of our two middle schools, and we spend the morning with the 6th graders. We give them a heads up on bullying which has become a big problem in the past couple of years. We teach them how to stop being the bully if they are ones, stop being the bystander and help out, and to be confident in yourself and standing up for others while making it a fun experience all at the same time. The other one is my favorite, Best Buddies, and it's an organization where you hang out with the special needs kids at the high school and make life long friendships. Some people, like myself, get paired up with a special needs students and we get to hang out with that student outside of school and REALLY make a special bond which the best feeling in the world is making them laugh and/or smile.
I hope whomever you are and myself get into contact.
if you have anymore questions I'd be happy to help, you know how to contact me.
THIS IS SO EXCITING THAT I'M ACTUALLY GOING TO GO TO COLLEGE AND MAYBE SWIM:)
Swimcerely, Mackenzie Artim
