Personal Statement
I started my swimming career when I was nine years old. However, my times did not see any big jumps, until I started swimming competitively and in high school. I have always done well swimming for myself, but I love to swim with a team. I have always performed extremely well, when I am swimming with my high school team. Now as a junior in high school, I have been able to be a part of many different experiences. I have been a part of the All Conference Team for the past two years, have qualified in top eight at regionals for the 500 this past year, and have been in two relays that have placed in top eight at regionals for the past three years also.
My entire life revolves around this sport. I have spent many hours helping out my competitive team's younger swimmers during meets. I've also helped out my middle school's swim team, by being a volunteer assistant coach and I've also volunteered with our local summer team by teaching fundamental swimming. I spend a couple days a week teaching swim lessons for my competitive team.
My plans for my future include what I've been doing for the past few years, teaching. Upon graduation from high school, I would like to swim at the college level for a team that is similar to my high school team; supportive, encouraging, and has a sense of family, and to take the skills that I have learned from my high school and competitive years and put them into use for my college team. In college, I plan to major in education and to minor in athletic coaching. My biggest inspirations and idols have always been my teachers and my coaches. They have pushed me, head first, into new experiences and have encouraged me to do my best at everything I do. From these amazing people I have found that I want to be an inspirations in a child's life too.
