Personal Statement
It all started because my mom swam a mile just about every day when she was expecting me so I really feel like I was born to be a swimmer. She put me in the pool when I was 5 weeks old and I have enjoyed the sport ever since. (We still laugh about the older woman at the pool that got angry with my parents for having me in the water at such a young age!) I drive approximately 600 miles each week during swim season just for practices, and add another 80-90 miles one way for each meet. I believe this shows how dedicated I am to the sport of swimming. My parents couldn't wait until I turned 16 because prior to that, they were doing all the driving.
Currently my goal for college is to get a degree in health sciences (major undecided right now), in addition to becoming a collegiate swimmer. I love swimming and want nothing more than to be an integral part of a team where I can continue the momentum I've gained in high school. As a freshman, I was chosen to be an alternate for our state relay teams. This only fired me up more...I want to be more than the alternate swimmer the next three years.
