Lauryn Schieffer '18 Recruiting Profile

My name is Lauryn Schieffer and I am a 5'8" dedicated athlete with high character who loves the sport of swimming.  I am currently a Junior at Southeast Polk High School and I am in the top 6% of my class.  I have placed within the top 6 at the Iowa State Swim Meet in both of my individual events and have helped my relay teams set multiple school records.   In addition to swimming for my high school, I am also a member of a USA Swimming Club (Des Moines Swim Federation) that helps me maintain my fitness and racing skills during the off season. I am a hard working member of all my teams and have a fun personality that makes all my team environments enjoyable for my teammates and coaches.  

My goals are go to a college program that has a rich swimming history and also values academic achievement.  I want to swim at a high level and be a strong contributor to the overall team.  Being part of a team is important to me as I thrive in environments where supporting one another is expected.  I enjoy swimming the distance freestyle events but am able to sprint and swim select strokes when needed.  What I can offer to a team is the promise to always work hard and never give up.  I am open minded about my college options but want to make sure that I find a college that is the best fit for me.

Swimming is a passion for me and has given me many opportunities to meet new people, see new places and spend time with my friends. I appreciate you taking the time out of your day to read my personal statement, good luck in the upcoming season.
