I became a Blazer when I was 8 years old after my swim lessons teacher, Peter Wetzel, said I would be a good swimmer - that had me hooked! Swimming has taught me many things. I have learned about being successful, how to overcome adversity, that change can be difficult but there is always a reward, and that being internally competitive easily compliments a desire for whole team success.
In both swimming and school I put focus on my strengths. I work hard for my grades and to keep my G.P.A. high. I know what not only helps me, but also challenges my success. I am a better student in smaller classes where I can get to know my teachers and have one on one attention, if it is needed. In school I have discovered that I am a visual learner, and have become great at advocating this in my life.
Swimming for multiple teams has been a great experience. Not only do I swim club and high school, I added summer league two years ago. I have multiple goals for the different teams I swim for. One of my club goals was to earn three sectional cuts - I will be swimming at Sectionals in March 2019! Another club goal is to swim the 500 free in under five minutes by the end of my short course season. High School swim is always exciting and I would love to see my high school team win state this May. As a Freshman and Sophomore I was able to contribute to our team placing second and third respectively. It would be amazing for us to end our 2019 season with a top finish.
I strive to be a successful member of my teams. I bring a competitive spirit, flexibility, willingness to take direction, and enthusiasm and support for my teammates. These characteristics will continue to make me a valuable member of any team.
