Personal Statement

Dear Coaches

My name is Lili Elayi and I am currently enrolled in Lafayette High school Pre Engineering Magnet program in Lexington KY. I have been swimming competitively since I was 9 years old and I have always absolutely adored the water. I loved the water so much that when I was younger my dream was to be a mermaid so I could swim all day. I am extremely active. Throughout the years, I have done cross country, yoga, pilates, rock climbing, triathlons, dance and many other things to help reach my maximum potential.  I was selected twice to go to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs in October of  2018, 2019 and hopefully I will be selected for the 2020 season. My typical  week day consists of  attending school, doing my homework in the car while eating, going to swim practice(4-6), then going straight to cross country(6:15-8:15) and then returning home to study. In addition, twice a week I wake up from 5am-6:30am for morning practice. On weekends I drive to a nearby city, Louisville KY, to take private technique lessons in a USA certified swim lab.  I can do all this while holding a high academic standard for myself which i believe makes me a very determined and hard working student. When i set a goal, i do everything i can possibly do to make sure i achieve it and until i do i never give up. I think I am a great candidate for your team because I can not only push myself but I can push my teammates. I think I am different from other recruits because I am well rounded in almost everything i do, i have a unique personality because not only am I extremely driven but i think most importantly I am extremely passionate. That is why I truly believe I would be perfect for your team.
