Kami Pankratz '16 Recruiting Profile

My name is Kami Pankratz.  I am a junior in high school at Blue Valley West in Overland Park, Kansas.   I am actively pursuing my college search in hopes to find the best fit both academically and athletically.  I am a dedicated student in and out of the classroom, and I would like to pursue a career in medicine or a related health field.  Along with my academic college experience, I would also like to continue pursuing my athletic goals, which is to swim and compete at a collegiate level. I have been swimming on year-round club swim team for six years. I have gained a lot through these years both personally and athletically. On a personal note, I have learned through this sport to be a dedicated, committed individual in everything I do.  It has taught me that with hard work and dedication, I can reach any goal.  However, it has also taught me that sometimes we have setbacks, but it is important to learn from our mistakes and just keep moving forward with a positive attitude.  Athletically, I have reached multiple goals since I've started this sport.  I had always wanted to qualify for sectionals, and I'm proud to say that I have swam at sectionals since my freshman year in high school.  Now I just keep moving the bar upward and hope to soon get closer to a junior national time.

Academically, I carry a 4.0 weighted –GPA currently and rank 77th out of 321 classmates.  The Blue Valley school district is nationally recognized as one of the best high schools in the nation.  I have challenged myself in honors courses such as Physics, Pre-Calculus, and ELA (English Language Arts).  I have earned membership into the National Honor Society and I participate and support various community service initiatives, including those in my community and church.  As mentioned above, I would like to pursue a career in the medical/health field because I find fulfillment in helping people in need.
