Personal Statement
My name is Amanda Murray and I have been in the pool since I was six months old. I am a three sport athlete and have been since middle school and will be for all four years of high school. I am a honor roll student with a GPA of 93 out of 100. During my junior year of swimming, I was named Captain. During my junior year of soccer, I was awarded the most improved player of the year. Swimming has always been a big part of my life and has helped me through the hard times in my life. Being able to swim in the calm water with no noise around you, helps get rid of the stress and clears my mind. The team atmosphere, on my high school team, allows me to work hard and try my best. My coach, Lenora pushes us everyday past out limits to ensure ourselves that we can do better than we think. I am someone who will ask myself and my coaches what it is that I can do to be a better person and a swimmer/player. I am always looking for areas of improvement which makes me very determined. In seventh grade, I tried out for the soccer A team. I did not make it that year so I began staying after practices on the B team and working on what I was told needed improvement. I then began running and becoming faster. I also started to workout and gain muscle to help me. When the tryouts came in eighth grade I was more than ready. I made the A team that year and was in the top twelve best players on that team out of twenty-three. I am a leader on my teams and help my team mates around me. I am looking to continue my swimming into college and grow as a person in the pool and in the world.
