Hello, my name is Charlotte Headland. I currently swim for Monocacy Aquatic Club (MAC) in Frederick Maryland and am in 10th grade. I have been swimming on this team since I was 7 years old and my passion for swimming has only grown over the years. As a person I am outgoing, enjoy being around people and am a team player. A big aspect of swimming is being part of a team and encouraging your teammates and friends to do better. Some things I like to do besides swimming are being with my family and friends, cooking, reading, watching movies and traveling. Before Covid I was helping out with the Special Olympics program for swimming - I would help monitor a small group of adults and help some of the younger kids learn how to swim. I also usually participate in a local community summer swim team (Hood Hammerheads) and last year I was going to be an assistant coach. I have just taken a Red Cross life guarding class, and got my certification for life guarding with CPR/AED for professional rescuers and first aid.
School and studying are very important to me and I am excited to finally get back into school and meet all my new teachers, since we are finally going back part time. My favorite subjects right now are English and History. At the moment I am interested in majoring in psychology, sociology or social work. I think that I would be a good asset to a college because along with being a team player, I am willing to work hard and push myself to be the best person and swimmer I can be. In a college I am looking for a progressive atmosphere, diverse community, strong academic and competitive swim program. In addition, I want to make the most of all the opportunities that college will offer me.
