Personal Statement
My name is Ashleigh Allen; I am a 17 year old Senior in high school. I have been swimming since I was just 6 months old, but competitively since I was 9 years old and have been one of the top age group swimmers in my state. I currently swim for Kingfish Aquatics, in Waterford Michigan, under the direction of Coach Brad Brockway.
I am a focused, hardworking athlete and student. I have excellent time management skills and will never fail to always challenge myself in the pool as well as in the classroom. When I train and compete, I always put my heart and full effort into it.
Swimming is my passion and the pool is the place where I am the happiest. It has helped shape me into the person I am today and in more ways than I could have imagined. Swimming has developed me into a leader both in and out of the water and has also taught me the importance of teamsmanship. It has made me the confident and responsible person I am today. It is through swimming that I have learned the importance of time management and perseverance. I am expected to give my best at each and every practice, but I go beyond that. I go the extra yard because I know that my added effort will reward me with success. I go into every practice with something to focus on and/or improve. My determination to do well in and out of the water is what keeps me improving.
I have fallen in love with this sport and it has played a huge part in my life and is something I will not give up easily, which is why I have made several goals for myself to strive for over the next few years, such as, swimming at the collegiate level and achieving NCAA time standards so that I may compete with some of the Nation’s best.
I hope to become a part of a program with motivated teammates and an encouraging coach that will help me become the best person and swimmer I can be. I want my college experience, to not only be about swimming or academics, but also to help shape me as a person for the rest of my life.
