Personal Statement
I have always loved swimming. I started competing when I was five years old, and my passion for it has grown ever since. This sport has brought me so much over the years. I have had the honor of going to places like Buffalo, NY or Indianapolis, IN to compete against top level athletes with my club team. In high school, competing in conference and state meets has taught me about teamwork and that it's not always about the time you put on the board, but also about your positive mental attitude. One of the main highlights of my career was being selected to go to The Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO by my coach.
I have achieved much out of the pool as well. I was inducted into the National Honor Society for my academic achievements over the past few years. I aspire to go into French, Education, or Psychology and look forward to continuing to push myself in the classroom at college. Swimming and school have always been a nice balance for me. They keep me disciplined and on task, and have taught me a lot about time management. My experiences and awareness of what it takes to be a role model and to motivate my teammates, as well as myself, are qualities that I could bring to any team.
