Kaylen Hou '18 Recruiting Profile

I want to be a part of a college swim team because I like swimming and I want to keep going with it for as long as I can. I like swimming because it teaches you how to work hard, how to motivate yourself, and bear through pain.
      
In terms of academics, I am a strong student and am adaptable to different environments. Currently, I am getting good grades in a homeschool environment, and I also got straight A’s in my two years of school in China, even though the teaching language was Chinese. I was born and lived overseas, so I am fluent in Chinese and English. Being a homeschooler, I have good time management skills, am an independent learner, and a self-starter, so I believe I will transition easily to a college environment and do well there.

I want to study Fashion design. I already have a 100 page portfolio of clothing designs and about 100 completed designs. My goal is to someday have my own fashion design brand. My secondary interest is music. I play electric guitar, and when we lived in Beijing I was in a band. We wrote our own songs and recorded a CD.
