Personal Statement
I hope to swim competitively in college. I enjoy the hard work required by the sport and the camaraderie that develops over time with like-minded coaches and teammates.
My specialty stroke is freestyle, but I hope to improve my other strokes as well. I have competed in the Minnesota High School State Swim Meet for the past three seasons; my freshman, sophomore and junior years. At this year’s State Meet, I placed seventh in the 200 freestyle and eighth in the 100 freestyle. I ended the season being named All City, All Conference and All State. Furthermore, my coach and teammates named me Captain for the 2015 season.
In addition to being serious about swimming, I have a strong desire to do well academically. My current GPA is 3.9 (unweighted) and I have been awarded multiple Academic Letters. Currently, I am taking two classes at the University of Minnesota (Spanish and English) and three International Baccalaureate courses at my high school. I enjoy the mix of both college and high school classes.
In college I hope to major in biology with a minor in Spanish. While pursuing my degree, I would like to be a contributing member of a strong swim team.
