I think every athlete needs goals to push themselves into achieving. My current goals for swimming are to find a college program that will be a good fit for me and help me become the best I can be. Specifically, I want to earn points for my team at the conference championship and earn an invitation to the NCAA Championship Meet and earn points there as well. The next Olympic Trials will be following my Junior year so I'd like to not only have a qualifying time, but I'd like to be competitive when I go to Trials. My educational goal is to attend a good school that will lead me to a successful and fulfilling life.
Throughout my swimming career, I achieved many goals that I set for myself. Some of these goals were qualifying for Zones, Sectionals, and Junior Nationals. One of the most exciting awards that I earned was the 2014 Central Section Woman’s Distant High Point Award. This award is given to the swimmer who accumulates the most points in the 500, 1000, 1650, and 400 IM. I won the Distance High Point Award again in 2016. I’m proud of these accomplishments because I think it is a reflection of all my hard work and love for swimming.
My passion for swimming can be attributed to my parents. They wanted to make sure I wouldn’t drown when playing in the pool. Instantly, I fell in love with the sport and wanted to swim competitively. My parents asked my summer coach about joining a year-round team and he recommended that I join the Rockwood Swim Club. After a few years, I transferred teams to Clayton Shaw Park and it was there that I began pushing myself and achieving goals I never thought I would achieve. I’m excited to learn where I’ll go to college and continue swimming.
