Personal Statement

I enjoy playing sports and have participated in club soccer, school track, and cross country.  My first interest though has always been swimming.  My high school does not have a swim team so I commute 20 miles to the nearest pool, in Bozeman, and swim club year round.  I started swimming when I was 9 years old and have made many swim friends and memories across our state.  Many of my events were swam at high altitude, I've noted the adjustments where applicable on my stats.

We have a great club and I was elected to serve as team captain my sophomore year, where I encouraged my teammates and mentored the younger swimmers.  This year I was elected to serve on the Board of Directors as Athlete Representative where I get to help make club decisions.

I am very much looking forward to the entire college experience: academics, athletics, and social life. Although California, New York and Washington appeal to me, I am not picky as to where I end up, nor in which division I swim. A medium-sized school with a lively college town seems ideal, but I am absolutely open to other options. I hope to find a school and a team where I can make good friends, develop my full potential as a student athlete, and explore the world outside rural Montana.
