Personal Statement

Hi! I am Makayla Crist. I am 17 and a Junior at Sentinel High. My dreams are high, by the end of Junior year I would like to have 2 Junior National cuts in the 200 back and the 100 back. I like to separate out my goals by seasons, but my major goal right now is to find a perfect fit for college. I would like to swim for a division 2 or possibly a division 1 college. I dream of being in the Olympics someday as well as help my college to win at whatever meet we go to.

  • I worked my way up through the groups and was the youngest member in the highest level. I made sure I was the hardest worker and success came through that hard work.
  • Todd Marsh/ Spokane Area Coach
  • 1 year
  • I trained with Todd for a summer when I was 16. I was able to train with his college swimmers that were home for the summer. This was where I was first introduced to tire flipping. My training just increased greatly and this is where I learned what it might be like to swim in college. This was a great experience for me. I made many friends and have a great relationship with coach Todd.
  • Missoula Aquatic Club
  • 1 year
  • We moved specifically for me to train with Coach Dave Berkoff. Wow is all I can say. We train 4 mornings a week from 5:30am to 7 and then 5 afternoons from 3:30 to 6. We also swim from 7 to 9 on Saturdays. This includes some dry land training. I find time to squeeze in a little more dry land training on my own during the week or on Sundays. We are pushed to the very limit. That is why I am here.
