Personal Statement
I still remember the thrill of meeting my first club team coach when I was just six years old. One aspect that drew me to the sport of swimming is the way practice felt like one huge extended family get together, a feeling I still love today whenever I walk into practice. As I have became older, I am now the one who welcomes the newbies onto the team. I like to ensure there is always a seasoned friendly face to welcome them and make them feel comfortable. Working as a team is extremely important to me. This attitude helped me to earn MVP my sophomore season of high school.
My coach often says that your team is only as strong as your weakest link, so I strive to make sure that each member is pulling their own weight. I encourage teammates to rise to their potential while striving to challenge myself at practice. Each set is swum as an opportunity to improve, and each race is swum like it is my last. My drive to strive not only shines through in my swimming, but my academics as well. I am looking for a program that will challenge and nurture every aspect of my college experience.
