Hello, my name is Ellen Ellis and I swim for Millard North High School and Millard Aquatic Club. During my high school career, I qualified for state championships, as both a freshman, sophomore and junior in the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle. My freshman year I made it back to consolation finals in the 100 fly and won my heat, and in the 50 free I tied for 3rd in my consolation finals heat. I was also honored to be a part of my high school team's record-breaking 200 medley and 400 free relays. With my club I qualified for sectionals in the 100 fly and 50 free and qualified for my LSC's D1 championship for the last 6 years in the 50, 100, and 200 free, 100 fly, 100 and 200 back, and the 200 IM.
One of the things that makes me unique compared to other athletes is my ability to work through adversity. In middle school I struggled with shoulder injuries which forced me to only kick for a whole year. That year taught me a lot about perseverance and doing whatever it takes to overcome obstacles. My injury has been under control for the past three years through physical therapy, and I have come out of this experience more mature and hard-working than I ever thought possible.
