Personal Statement
Ever since I started swimming in 2011, I have fallen in love with the sport—I enjoy competing amongst my teammates and I love the feeling of the success we all experience at our meets after the months of hard training that we have suffered through together. This suffering brings about an unbreakable camaraderie that cannot be shaken even after an awful swim or terrible loss—that is what a team is. Being part of a team, where individual efforts matter but the team result is the ultimate goal, is my favorite part of the sport. I love cheering on my teammates and celebrating with them when they swim great but, also being there to console them when their swim doesn’t go as planned, is what really counts. My dedication to both the sport and my team is what pushes me day in and day out to become a better person and a better swimmer.
