Sofia Chevez '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sofia Chevez and I am currently a junior at Beacon High School. I have been swimming competitively since I was 7; I started lessons at Take Me to the Water Swim Club on the Upper West Side and then transeferred to the JCC Thunderbirds swim team in '08. From 2012- Spring of 2015, I was a part of a club team that was managed by Columbia University's head coach, Michael Sabala. Since that team disbanded, I have become a part of Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics (better known as the AGUA swim team), located on the Upper East Side at Asphalt Green. We practice six times a week for an hour and a half plus dry land; Sunday practices are a full two hours.  

I am dedicated, hardworking, and always up for a challenge. I do all sets during practice, easy or challenging, without any breaks and put effort into every single lap I swim. I am also open to critiques on my stroke, from both coaches or teammates; there is always room for improvement. For the past couple of years, I have been able to balance my hectic swim schedule with my academics; I have maintained high grades while having to swim almost every night of the week and early in the mornings before school. If recruited by a college swimming coach, I will be dedicated and loyal to my team.
