Personal Statement
My name is Hailey Jensen and I am a swimmer for Jenks High School and Jenks Trojan Swim Club. I have swam at Sectionals in 2011 and I have competed in the Zone Championships of 2007 and 2009. Swimming has been a large factor in my life for 8 years. It has not only helped me to become an independent and motivated person, but has aided me to obtain a diligent manner in how I do my school work and finish workouts. I have won the Hardest Worker award several times in my swimming career. I literally turn purple while I am swimming because I never give up. I have an excellent charisma and my teammates always tell me that I turn a bad day into an outstanding one. I have a very positive mentality that is a necessity for swimming. It has always been my dream to leave Oklahoma for a big city or an exciting college town. I'd love to go to school anywhere North, South, East, or West of Oklahoma. I would like to stay in the Midwest so that I can make it home to my family every once and a while. I'm looking for a school with a lot of spirit and pride. I don't have a preference of how large or small my university is, as long as there are some interesting people there. A school with strong academics is extremely important to me. The division level does not really matter, as long as I can compete with swimmers that will push me to become a better athlete. I am of Roman Catholic orientation so it would be nice if there was a parish that I could attend nearby, but other than that, religion at a school is of little importance to me. I'm very open to different types of schools with students from all walks of life. I plan to have a double major in Business and Pre-Medicine with a minor in Spanish. My realistic athletic goals are to compete at nationals as a freshman, make an impact on the team by encouraging my peers to work harder in and out of the pool, and most importantly to have a fun and successful college career surrounded by people that I can call family.
