Personal Statement
Hi, my name is Gracie Mckee, as a swimmer, I inspire to better myself each day in and out of the pool from dryland to academics. School is my first priority, I am looking for coaches and teachers who are just as dedicated and focused as I am to academics and swimming. I aspire to become a competitive college athlete who can still hold down a 4.07 GPA. Finding a team I can call my family is a must. Becoming a leader in a team is something I strive for. My first year as a high school swimmer I earned the freshman MVP swimmer award and a varsity letter. As a YMCA swimmer I have qualified for States for the past five years, as well as Junior Olympics and MA Zones long course in the 100 backstroke at the age of fourteen. Swimming is a passion of mine that started at the age of eight and has only grown stronger. Swimming has helped me grow as a person to foster my leadership skills, learning the art of time management, to overcome my shyness, overall it builds character. Through the sport of swimming, I am a self-confident, focused individual that has been encouraged by coaches, teammates, and my parents. However, I am not only a swimmer but a leader too. This past year I was given the top position (project manager) for the 9th-grade project and led my team of eight to victory. I am involved in community service work by giving of my time to collect clothing for the needy and gifts for children at Christmas. As you can see I am a well-rounded individual that would be proud to be part of your school and your team.
