Personal Statement
I am a dedicated and motivated athlete. I am 5'6"; 140 lbs and I love to swim. I have many accomplishments that I have worked hard for over the last nine years to achieve. I placed third at high school states in the 200 IM SCY. I hold several high school records, pool, meet and league records. I am a High School All American and a USA Scholastic All-American as well. I have also achieved distinguished honor roll at my school. One of my favorite accomplishments was swimming a 2:23.99 in the 200 IM LCM. This is the closest I have ever been to an Olympic trial cut which is very exciting for me. I bring many different aspects to a team. I am always the first person to arrive at practice. Being at practice early allows me to prepare my body and mind to be at their best. You will always find me working hard at everything I do. Every set, every repeat, you will find me pushing myself to new heights and encouraging my teammates to do so as well. I am always working on the little things like starts and turns that can make a big difference. I have always dreamed of swimming in college because it is how I am going to reach the next level. I am a team captain for my high school and I take this honor very seriously. I am a goal-oriented person not just in the pool, but outside as well. Everything I do has a purpose. I create a goal sheet with swim times that I want to achieve at the end of each session. I not only have goals athletically but academically as well. I set academic goals for myself throughout the year. I am not quite sure of where I want to go to school but am open to many different types of schools. I am very excited to see what each has to offer academically and athletically. I have been researching Physical and Occupational Therapy and I am considering majoring in either. If possible, I would like to minor in Spanish. I have many goals I wish to achieve in swimming. I want to swim as a freshman, swim at least one Olympic Trial Cut, and compete in the NCAA's. I want to represent my team to the best of my ability in and out of the pool. I am also very excited to make the people most important to me proud. I know they have sacrificed to give me every opportunity they could to become the person and the athlete I am today, and I want to continue to make a rewarding difference.
