Aloha!
My name is Jordan Jiuliano. I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and have been swimming since age 3, with my twin sister, Kaitlyn. I started competitive swimming at age 10 with the Punahou Aquatics Club (PAQ) in Honolulu, Hawaii. My family relocated to Southlake, Texas, in 2021 before my freshman year in high school, and I am in my junior year at Southlake Carroll Senior High School (3rd-year on the varsity swim team). My favorite strokes are butterfly and freestyle, and I enjoy the 200 freestyle and 200 IM relays. I was top 6 in the 100 fly at the Texas UIL 6A District swim meet in the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons and qualified for the Regional Championship meet in Midland, Texas, both years. My goal in high school swimming is to qualify for the Texas UIL 6A State meet. I have continued club swimming in Texas with the North Texas Natadores (NTN) in 2021-2022 and Lakeside Aquatics Club (LAC) in 2022-current. I qualified for Short-Course Sectionals in the 100 fly in 2023 and in March 2024 (Justin, Texas).
In addition to swimming, I joined the Southlake Carroll Varsity Water Polo Team for the past three years. My position is an attacker and sprinter. In 2022 and 2023, our team advanced to the State Championship; this year, we came in second in the state (lost in the championship).
Growing up in Hawaii, I enjoyed all ocean sports: surfing, snorkeling, and open-water swimming. I really miss swimming in the ocean and competing in the outdoor pools. In Texas, I was inspired by the Swim4Elise Foundation, which supports water safety, and last summer, I became a certified lifeguard through the American Red Cross with CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications. I also spent the previous two summers working at my community swimming pool.
Swimming has been a "best friend"; it kept me focused during the Covid shutdown and shaped my self-discipline and time-management skills. Academically, I have challenged myself to enroll in advanced-level and AP courses. I am a member of the National Honor Society and have over 100 volunteer hours, thus far. Many of my volunteer hours have been focused on the healthcare field. Last summer, I volunteered at Texas Health Allen Presbyterian Hospital and am currently a volunteer at Three Oaks Hospice in Hurst, Texas. Academics will remain a priority in college as I aspire to pursue a career in healthcare or pre-veterinary.
I am very interested in swimming at the college level and will push myself to get stronger and faster. I plan to build strong relationships and strengthen my potential to contribute as part of the team. Outside of swimming, I love all ocean and water sports (surfing, snorkeling, paddle-boarding) and I tried distance open water swimming in Kona and enjoy skiing. I also love to travel and listen to Korean Pop (K-pop) music. This developed my interest in Korean culture and food, and I am currently learning the Korean language and hope to travel to Korea or study abroad. I also enjoy spending time with my sister and our two Australian Shepherds (Kona and Hoku) as they have a lot of energy; there is never a dull moment.
I am committed to continuing swimming and am looking for a solid academic program and coaching staff that will guide me to become a better swimmer, teammate, and well-rounded person.
