Personal Statement

My name is Michaela Morrison, and I'm a 5'10 Senior attending Yorktown High School.in Arlington, VA.  Since June 2014, I swim for Machine Aquatics, after 8 years of competing for Arlington Aquatics Club.  I started to swim competitively at age 6 and its my desire to a collegiate swimmer.  I have done alot of sports growing up and am a natural athlete but have chosen to concentrate on swimming.  I love to sprint and I swim hard both in my individual events  and relays.  There is nothing quite like swimming your heart and soul for your team in a tight race and winning.  I have been told I'm a very strong relay swimmer and many times I do my best times in a relay when I feel I'm in their fighting for my team to win.

In addition to swimming, I am a gifted musician and have played in award winning Symphonic and Big Bands over the course of my high school career.  This year I'm backing off on the music, and concentrating more on swimming.  I'm glad I gave myself the opportunity to perform at a high level but really want to focus on swimming in my Senior year.

I enjoy people of various backgrounds and interest on my present swim teams.  I speak both English and Spanish.  I'm considering a college major in criminology, international studies, and Spanish.. Thanks for taking the time to read my profile.
