Personal Statement
I started swimming when I was just six years old, but did not take it to the next level until I was about twelve years old. Since then I have not only been able to participate on a club team, but on my high school swim team as well. My sophomore year I was fortunate to receive the most valuable player award, and I also received the most inspirational award the following year. Although most valuable player was an accomplishment I am very proud of, the most inspirational award meant the most to me because my team members had recognized me for my role as a leader and motivator for the team. This experience has since motivated me to continually uphold the standards and qualities that qualified me for the award in the first place, and I have been able to grow even more in my leadership, commitment, and self-discipline.
In addition, I have been able to qualify for 4A state championships and advance to finals my freshman through junior year. My academic accomplishments include being a member of the national honor society, link crew, and taking part in several AP courses. In college, I plan to carry on with challenging myself academically by studying the field of sports medicine and kinesiology. I believe that my dedication both athletically and academically could benefit many college programs and that my leadership experience has prepared me to be able to positively impact a college team environment!
