Personal Statement
I didn't want to be a swimmer. My sister had started with a small, local swim team, but I wanted nothing to do with it... until I watched her first practice. I remember asking my mom that very day if I could join, and I haven't looked back. I love being in the water. I love the feeling of working towards a goal and seeing it through to completion. When I started high school, I knew that I wanted to see my name on the school's record board. I was able to accomplish this my sophomore year in the 500 Freestyle, and it felt great to see that persistence and hard work paid off. I can't wait to find the perfect college match, where I can continue to improve.
Another part of swimming that I am really passionate about is helping others achieve their goals, and helping create a fun team atmosphere. With my high school team, I love working in the water with new swimmers and seeing them come to love the sport as I do. I believe that being a leader in the pool now will help me be successful both in college and in my career as a Pediatric Nurse.
School hasn't always been easy for me, especially the transition from grade school to middle school and high school. I know that I have to work hard in the classroom every day, and I am so proud to have come as far as I have. I have never given up, and am really proud to say that I am an Honor Roll student, with a GPA that continues to rise. I'm excited for the future, both in the classroom and in the water.
