Swimming is my passion. I started swimming at 7 years old and was hooked on the sport instantly. I participated in other sports, but nothing matched the competition and satisfaction of a good race. I have learned many valuable lessons during my years of swimming that has not only helped me meet my goals in the sport, but in other areas of my life. First, without putting in the time you don't get the results. This goes for swimming and academics. I have learned you can't just go through the motions or think just by showing up you are going to get the desired results. Second, as the saying goes "there is no I in team." Even though swimming is often looked at as an individual sport, you need your teammates to be successful. Whether it is pushing each other in practice, or competing for that last relay spot, your team is going to benefit from everyone's success. Lastly, you should only be disappointed if you didn't give it your best effort. We all have goals, but there may be a time when your best effort may not resulted in the outcome you wanted. At that time, you need to reflect to determine if anything could have been done differently and how can you get a different result next time.

Swimming has made me the person I am today, a dedicated student and athlete. In age group swimming, I have been a State Champion and have placed in the top ten in my age group in the last two years at Wisconsin Short Course State Championship. I am in the top 16% of my class and received 4.0 this year in my classes. I am ready to make impact both in the pool and on campus.
