Sarah Jane Schott '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Sarah Jane Schott.  I am a seventeen years old tennis player from Prescott Arizona.  Even though I started playing tennis when I was young, I didn’t take it seriously until 7th grade.  When my Freshman year rolled around, I played as number 2 and 3 on the Varsity Singles Team without losing a single match until State. This helped me earn the Coach’s Award. Then I was fortunate enough to go to a tennis camp in Spain through a program called Tennis Europe.  This month abroad was a wakeup call.  I realized that I wasn’t going to get good without kicking it up a notch by making tennis a bigger priority.  Now I play 5-6 days per week.  As a Sophomore, I played the number 2 position on Varsity team and received the Coach’s award for a second time.  My coach kept choosing me for this award because I am very coachable: I listen well and can implement what I’m learning into my matches quickly.  
While tennis is extremely important to me, I am also very involved in my school.  When I am not playing, I am usually volunteering or studying.  I take my grades very seriously and hope to graduate high school with a GPA higher than a 4.0.  
Tennis and school have taught me goal-setting skills, how to manage my time efficiently, teamwork, and how to appreciate hard work.  Comparing the player I am now to when I started brings me great satisfaction. I try to keep a positive attitude and come to practice with a desire to become a better player and a better person.
