I have been playing competitive tennis for three years, but I've played the game for most of my life. I always push myself and give 110% on to the court. For me, playing tennis is a passion, not a part time job. I'm dedicated to the game and see myself improving and competing in college.
I play in USTA tournaments and plan to continue to do so as the year progresses. I have played Varsity tennis at school for 5 years, including the 2014 season. I'm an enthusiastic and positive member of the team. I cheer for other teammates when I'm not playing and view any losses as an experience to learn from. I take constructive criticism well and try to implement whatever instruction I receive immediately into my game. I believe that being apart of the Varsity tennis team means that everyone supports each other and works together to improve not only as an individual player, but as a team.
My ground strokes revolve around good technique and heavy top spin. I believe I shine the most on the baseline, I see the opposite side of the net as a game board, using various strategies to manipulate my opponent in different directions. My net game is also an area I excel in, using my volleys as an attack shot. My serve has become a very useful weapon over the past few months. I have a consistent serve made up of spin and power and can manipulate the ball well.
I am currently a member of the National Honor Society.
I have recently been named to the Sun Sentinel's All-County Girls Tennis Honorable Mention by the Florida House of Representatives for my District.
I'm not entirely sure what I want to major in in college. Between Fashion Design, Creative Writing, Print Journalism, and Business, I'm still trying to explore my options and find a major that I can see myself doing for the rest of my life. I want a career that I will love doing and have a strong passion for. I just need to find out what it is.
I know that there will be someone out there who will be better than me, faster than me, and stronger than me, but no one will have as much determination and heart as I do. Both on and off the court, I give everything I have and will do it to my best ability. I dedicate myself to whatever I set my mind to, even if I am a little hard on myself sometimes. I work for my goals, and I believe the steps leading up to accomplishing those goals is what makes them better once I reach them.
