Personal Statement
Hello, I’m Kiah Farrington from Pierceton Indiana. I'm graduating in the class of 2023 at Wawasee High school, with a current GPA of 4.33. I’ve climbed my way up the high school tennis “ladder”, winning my first year of high school tennis sectional champion (individually), with an 18-5 (win/loss ratio) for my season. Also, I received an honorable mention for the conference and statewide. Outside of high school tennis, I am an active USTA player, winning a few tournaments, and consolation brackets. In my high school, I enjoy helping our community through Key Club, where I am an officer and bulletin editor. Also, I am an active member of the student council, an officer of our school’s Chemistry club, and on top of that, I’m tackling 5 AP classes.
Swimming was a part of my life for 7 years, the mindless repetition of drilling your body past your limits. I made my way in the sport, winning state championships in the 50 freestyle, and medaling at state in almost all of my events. Though swimmers would disagree, the challenge of mental fortitude required for tennis far exceeds the difficulties of swim and drew me in. Learning to strive through these challenges, with many productive failures, has taught me invaluable lessons that I didn’t find anywhere else. I plan to keep driving and pushing myself, and my mental fortitude, and displaying that on the court, wherever that may take me.
